Beauvale District Scouts, Nottinghamshire

How will my child benefit from joining Scouting?

Parents tell us their children benefit hugely from the adventures, fun and friendships they experience. It can help develop your child’s social skills and independence, and give them access to some amazing and memorable opportunities.

Our Waiting List

Our sections can only hold so many young people, limited by the size of our meeting place and the number of leaders we have to organise and run our programmes. The limit for Beavers is currently set to 24, with that number of Beavers attending sessions regularly. The Cubs limit is also 24, with spaces being filled with new Beavers swimming up at the same time as Cubs moving up to Scouts. Our Scouts limit is currently as yet undefined, but with the section hosting members aged 10 - 14, the hut suddenly seems a lot smaller when they are in session!

As you join our waiting list you will receive a running number of "points" depending on how long a child has been on our waiting list. This makes things a little more balanced when it comes to understanding who has been waiting longer and thus should be given more priority when it comes to an available space. We also award additional points to those on our waiting list who have a sibling already in Scouting, or whose parents/guardians offer regular help (because this is vitally important to help us run our section).

We usually admit new members at the start of a new term into spaces created as existing members move up to the next section to continue their adventure.

To join our waiting list, please complete the form below. When your information is received, we will assign a unique ID to your application which can be used to allow you to track your application here.
